Shops are usually open all weeks including Sundays from 9am until 9pm. In smaller cities, shops maybe closed between 1 pm and 5 pm.
Bargaining is customary in small shops and markets, the arts, which is to start at half the asking price and slowly increase your offer until a compromise is reached. Remember it helps to smile while bargaining.

Find the best shopping for electronics in Mangga Dua Electronics Center I West Jakarta or Ratu Plaza in South Jakarta. The Pasar Seni Art Markets in Ancol is famous for its paintings and other handicrafts. Another interesting place is the Jatinegara gemstone market, where you can find a huge variety of precious and semiprecious stones. Stroll through the Pasar Baru pedestrian area and browse through the traditional textile shops.
