After some small problems with the reception staff not receiving any booking from Agoda, the rest of the stay was very very pleasant. The hotel, staff and food were excellent. The rooms were well kept and had nice equipment inside, although we had a morning knock on the door from a laundry person every day, which disturbed us and became a little annoying. Review: Before departing for Hong Kong, I e-mailed the hotel (via their website) inquiring about New Year mass schedules in nearby churches. To my pleasent surprise, I didn't have to wait long for a reply e-mail. My husband, 12-year old daughter and I stayed at this hotel from Dec. 31 to Jan. 3. We arrived around 12 noon and checked-in with the front desk. I was informed that we can go up our room at 2 PM.; and since I knew that 2 PM was standard policy we happily left our luggage w/ the concierge and used the time to explore Cityplaza, a mall at nearby Taikoo. We went back to the hotel at past 3 PM thinking that we can immediately get our key & go up our room. Upon reaching the front desk,there was no ready key at all. The same front desk personnel who facilitated our check-in earlier (again) asked for our passports, made a phone call, and advised me that they are still conducting a final check on our room. This greatly dismayed us as we were tired from the journey (& malling). We were advised to wait for 5 more minutes before we can go up our room. Before the 5 minutes were up, I was informed that we would be upgraded to a jr. suite in view of the fact that our room was not ready on the designated time. Despite the fact that our room was a smoking room, there was no trace of cigarette odor at all. (Since we couldn't be billeted in a non-smoking room, the front desk earlier assured me that the hotel makes certain that no cigaretter odor lingers in the room). Our room has a small bedroom that contains a king-sized bed and a dresser, a kitchenette and dining room, and a living room w/ a sofa bed which surprisingly was comfortable for my 12-year old. The room was clean including the furniture, draperies, upholstery and carpeting. The bathroom had no stain marks and the plumbing was good. Review: The hotel is in a less fashionable area of the island but is only 10 minutes from central on MTR. The facilities are good to very good, the outdoor pool on the 3rd floor is a nice touch and well worth using. When the hotel says it is right by the MTR exit, it is! I didn't eat at the hotel but I found the bar on the expensive side, even for HK Island, on the other hand the service was good and the staff helpful and friendly. Staff was very friendly and helpful, check in was a breeze, given a room on 17th floor and the room was big by HK standard, clean and comfortable. Had a little problem getting to the hotel as I was coming in from Shenzhen by the train. Wasn't quite sure where to stop, after having got on the bus from Hung Hom. But I must say the location was a little out of the way from public transportation. If I was traveling with more than my carry-ons, it would have been a little more of a challenge as you have to climb up and down stairs to cross the main roads.
