Most countries have some form of trade representation in Germany, but not usually a bilateral chamber of commerce, and not always located in Berlin. Most embassies have a trade or economic department to which you should address any queries regarding information about the respective country`s economy and terms of conducting trade or other business. The main objective of a chamber of commerce or trade department of an embassy is to promote trade with that country, promote exports and investments in Germany and their country.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Germany dates back to 1903 and thus has a long-standing tradition of promoting trade between the USA and Germany. It is also the largest American Chamber of Commerce in Europe, consisting of a membership of mainly American firms located in or investing in Germany. As part of their objective to promote a good business climate the American Chamber of Commerce works on a wide range of business-related topics, e.g. environmental policy, financial services, etc, and disseminates them through talks and publications and also liaises with the business community and policy makers.
